Mission & Values
MISSION: The foundation of any organization’s plan is its mission statement. It states the reason we exist.
VALUES: The following Value statements are the "guiding principles" of each member of East County Fire & Rescue. Our value statements tell our customers and membership where our agency stands and what we believe in. 1. Provide a safe and positive environment for Fire District personnel and the community we protect and serve. 2. Strive for excellence and deliver professional performance to both internal and external users of our service. 3. Respect the diversity of our community—and the members of our own Fire Service family—while working together to achieve Agency goals and objectives. 4. Be open, honest and ethical in all our actions, activities and communication. 5. Promote the health and wellness of our organization and our Members. 6. Maintain a long-term planning horizon and employ practices that improve safety, service, efficiency and effectiveness. 7. Be fiscally responsible with the resources provided.

East County Fire & Rescue was formed on May 16, 2006 when Clark County Fire District # 1 merged into Clark County Fire District # 9. Fire District # 9 then petitioned the Board of County Commissioners to officially change our name to better reflect our Service Area: Eastern Clark County Washington, aka “East County”. The district is a primarily volunteer and provides Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Response, Rope Rescue, Water Rescue, and Public Service Assistance to the unincorporated areas north of— and east of— the cities of Camas and Washougal. Approximately 53 Volunteer Fire Fighters, EMS Responders and Emergency Response Team Members respond to 600+ calls per year from our five fire stations: Fern Prairie, Livingston Mountain, Mt. Norway, Orchard Hills and Sunnyside. The Fern Prairie station (Station 91) is staffed 24/7, while the Mount Norway station is staffed during the day. |
