East County Fire and Rescue Commissioners

A six-member Board of Commissioners administers East County Fire & Rescue.  The board meets twice each month, on the first and third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.  (Minutes)

John Clancy

John is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He retired as a Registered Representative and Financial Advisor with Shelgren Financial Group, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa.

Born in South Dakota, schooled in Iowa, he and his wife Phyllis, a Registered Nurse, have lived in Washougal since 1988.  A former member of the Board of Directors of the Marines Memorial Association in San Francisco, and the Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors of the Lacamas Credit Union, he and his wife continue to support the many communities they have lived in.

In 2005, John was appointed to fill a vacated Commissioner position, and then was elected to that position in January 2006. Prior to his appointment, he and Phyllis completed CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) and became active in the Fire District’s Emergency Response Team as a Volunteer on the Rehab Bus.

Greg Cox

Gary Larson

I have had the privilege of serving the residents of East County Fire & Rescue as one of your Fire Commissioners since 1979.  I am currently serving as Board Chairman of ECF&R, and President of The Clark County Fire Commissioners Association.

After 33 years in the paper industry I changed careers and entered the Industrial Repair industry serving in a number of management positions.  Then, in 2005, I opted to take early retirement and started my own business.  I manufacture cedar gift boxes, such as wine boxes for the retail trade, and also do light construction and home repairs.

Vic Rasmussen

Vic is a life-long resident of Camas.  He still resides on a portion of a farm that has been in the family since the late 1890s.

Vic has been married to Laurie (Lightheart) for 38 years.  They have two daughters, Amee (works for the Camas Fire Department) and Alisa Vail (teaches in the Special Education field at Gause Elementary School in Washougal).  They have one Granddaughter, Annabelle Vail, who is 8 years old.

Vic retired as a Maintenance Leader from Crown Zellerbach/Georgia Pacific Corp. in November 2006, after 41 years service.  He has been a Fire Commissioner since 1982.

Vic’s interests include Family, Camping, ATV’s, and Cars. Currently, he is rebuilding a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle.

Harry Goodnight, Jr.

George (Jack) F. Hoober

Recently Retired

Jack Hoober retired from his position on December 31, 2007.  He served two terms on the Board of Commissioners for a total of 11 years.  His first term began in 1993.  Jack served as (acting) Chief of District 1 for a full year after the departure of Chief Green until the hiring of the current Chief, Scott Koehler.  He actively participated in the creation of East County Fire & Rescue through the merging of Clark County Fire Districts 1 and 9 in 2006.

We would like to thank Jack for his many years of service to the community.
