A five-member Board of Commissioners administers East County Fire & Rescue.  The board meets twice each month, on the first and third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.  Click Here for Board Minutes

John Clancy

John is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He retired as a Registered Representative and Financial Advisor with Shelgren Financial Group, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa.

Born in South Dakota, schooled in Iowa, he and his wife Phyllis, a Registered Nurse, have lived in Washougal since 1988.  A former member of the Board of Directors of the Marines Memorial Association in San Francisco, and the Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors of the Lacamas Credit Union, he and his wife continue to support the many communities they have lived in.

In 2005, John was appointed to fill a vacated Commissioner position, and then was elected to that position in January 2006. Prior to his appointment, he and Phyllis completed CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) and became active in the Fire District’s Emergency Response Team as a Volunteer on the Rehab Bus.

Gary Larson

glarson@eastcofire-rescue.org

I have had the privilege of serving the residents of East County Fire & Rescue as one of your Fire Commissioners since 1979.  I am currently serving as Board Chairman of ECF&R, and President of The Clark County Fire Commissioners Association.

After 33 years in the paper industry I changed careers and entered the Industrial Repair industry serving in a number of management positions.  Then, in 2005, I opted to take early retirement and started my own business.  I manufacture cedar gift boxes, such as wine boxes for the retail trade, and also do light construction and home repairs.

Vic Rasmussen

vrasmussen@eastcofire-rescue.org

Vic is a life-long resident of Camas.  He still resides on a portion of a farm that has been in the family since the late 1890s.

Vic has been married to Laurie (Lightheart) for 38 years.  They have two daughters, Amee (works for the Camas Fire Department) and Alisa Vail (teaches in the Special Education field at Gause Elementary School in Washougal).  They have one Granddaughter, Annabelle Vail, who is 8 years old.

Vic retired as a Maintenance Leader from Crown Zellerbach/Georgia Pacific Corp. in November 2006, after 41 years service.  He has been a Fire Commissioner since 1982.

Vic’s interests include Family, Camping, ATV’s, and Cars. Currently, he is rebuilding a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle.

George (Jack) F. Hoober

jhoober@eastcofire-rescue.org

George F. (Jack) Hoober was appointed by the East County Board of Fire Commissioners, at their December 15th Regular Board Meeting, to fill the ‘vacant’ 5th Commissioner’s seat.  This position became available when Fire District voters recently approved a “5 Person Board” at the 2009 General Election.  Starting on January 1st, Mr. Hoober will serve two years—of the six year term—until the 2011 General Election, at which time interested candidates will be required to ‘run’ for the last four years of the term.

George Hoober previously served 10 years as a Fire Commissioner with Fire District #1—and after Fire District #1 and Fire District #9 merged in 2006—with East County Fire & Rescue.  He and his wife, Nancy, have lived in the Fire District for over 20 years.  George is a retired airlines pilot and an Electrical Engineer.

Mike Berg

Mike Berg was elected to the East County Fire & Rescue Board of Fire Commissioners in the Fall of 2009.  His six year term began January 1, 2010.

Mike Berg was in the Navy for four years.  He started his professional career with Fire District 4, continuing after a District merge.  Today he is with Vancouver Fire Department, and has been a professional fire fighter for 34 years.
